Liam Fry, MD, CMD, FACP
Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice and Palliative Medicine
Dr. Fry attended the University of Texas at Austin for undergraduate school and received a BA in the Plan II Honors Program. After college she attended Oxford University in England. She graduated from the UT Southwestern Medical School in 2002, followed by an Internal Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. After finishing residency, she completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu, HI. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is the Chief of the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care at the University of Texas Dell Medical school, was appointed by Governor Abbott to serve on the NFAAC committee to HHSC, and is the current chairman of the geriatric committee of the Travis County Medical Society. She is married and has 3 wonderful children.
Emily Bowen, MD
Internal Medicine
Dr. Bowen is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. A native Texan, she grew up in Amarillo and then attended Baylor University in Waco, where she graduated summa cum laude with a BBA in Economics and Business Fellows and a minor in Chemistry. She then moved to Dallas where she completed medical school, internal medicine residency, and a geriatrics fellowship, all at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She practiced primary care geriatrics in the Austin area for 3 years before joining Austin Geriatric Specialists where she now provides care in nursing homes. Dr. Bowen is passionate about improving the lives of older adults and their caregivers. She has a special interest in patients with dementia, motivated by her journey alongside her family as they cared for her grandmother with Alzheimer's disease. Outside of medicine, she loves being a mother and spends her time with her husband and their two young children.
Matthew Brimberry, MD
Family Medicine
Dr. Brimberry was born in Alamogordo, NM and moved to Austin when he was seven. Shortly after graduating high school he enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Fletcher. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Arkansas and completed medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. His professional interests include continuity of care, clinical dermatology, and preventive medicine. Dr. Brimberry and his wife live in South Austin with their two children. When not in the office Dr. Brimberry enjoys gardening, camping, and going to art exhibits with his wife.
Jasmine Javadi, MD
Family Medicine
Dr. Javadi is a board certified Family Medicine physician with special interest in Geriatrics and Caregiver Support. She is a native Texan, born and raised in Houston. She graduated medical school Cum Laude from The American University of Antigua and subsequently completed her Residency at Texas Tech University El Paso. Prior to moving to Austin, she provided complete medical care to the underserved population's in the Caribbean islands, Hawaii and Native Samoa as well as the boarder populations in El Paso and West Texas. She practiced as a Hospitalist for 3 years before to transitioning to Post-Acute and Nursing home care. Dr. Javadi is a strong proponent of Elder care advocacy and improving care and resources for our Geriatric population. She lives in Austin with her husband Bez, Lab Loki and cat Lucy. When Dr. Javadi is not working she enjoys traveling, fishing and spending time in the sun.
Craig Kopecky, MD
Internal Medicine
Dr. Kopecky started his medical career in the US Army. Upon completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Dr. Kopecky received all 3 senior awards for his class including Best Teacher, Best Research, and Best Clinician. This was the only time in the history of the program for all 3 awards to be presented to one individual. He then took care of the troops, dependents, and retirees at Fort Hood, Texas, where he was the officer in charge of the Adult Chronic Care Clinic, and received the Army Surgeon General’s Excalibur award for Outstanding care of the diabetic population. He is also a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and was awarded the Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Bronze Star for his service as a physician in Support of the deployed forces in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He returned to Brooke Army Medical Center to complete his service time as a Staff member in the Internal Medicine Clinic and to assist in the training of his younger counterparts in their Internal Medicine residency. After his discharge from the Army, Dr. Kopecky began practicing in a rural health clinic setting in South Texas where he cared for the underserved population for the better part of the last 10 years. He and his wife, Joanne, have been fans of, and frequent visitors to Austin and have finally realized their dream of settling down in their ‘forever home’ here in North Austin.
Michael Krol, MD
Geriatric Medicine
Dr. Michael Krol is board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics. He received his bachelor of science from the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School in 2013. Dr. Krol completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Tx. After residency, he completed a Geriatrics Medicine Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center, followed by an Advanced Geriatrics Leadership training focused on enhancing the transition from hospitals to nursing facilities. He is passionate about working with families and interdisciplinary teams to improve the care and experience for nursing home residents. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, biking, and playing ultimate frisbee.
Geoffrey McCrossan, MD
Internal Medicine
Dr. Geoffrey McCrossan is board-certified in Internal Medicine. He graduated from Williams College with a BA in Biology and a Concentration in Biochemistry. Following college, he attended the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. McCrossan completed Internal Medicine residency and Palliative Care fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He believes in providing high-quality care that is tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Dr. McCrossan enjoys trail running, rock climbing, and hiking the Austin greenbelt.
Toral Parikh, MD, MPH
Geriatrics
Dr. Parikh is a board-certified geriatrician and internal medicine physician. She completed her medical school at the University of Texas San Antonio, followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of Arizona, and then a geriatric fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle. After an advanced research fellowship, she worked at the Seattle VA for several years before moving to Austin, Texas with her family. She enjoys spending time with her family, painting, reading historical fiction, and swimming in the cool Barton Springs.
Anjana Philip, MD
Internal Medicine
Dr. Anjana Philip is a board certified internist and nephrologist who has been practicing medicine since 2007 when she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, New York. She went on to do a fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Alabama. After several years practicing nephrology, she decided to focus on providing primary care to frail elders in skilled nursing facilities. She has had experience both in research and as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Arkansas. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, jogging, swimming, and badminton.
Kevin P. Spencer, MD
Family Medicine
Dr. Kevin P. Spencer specializes in Family Medicine. He cares for school-age children and adults in his practice. He believes prevention, wellness, and sports exams are critical in assessing a person’s health risks and strategizing towards their health goals. He manages risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol with high proven standards to prevent early disease. Dr. Spencer has been in practice since 1997. He enjoys reading, hiking, coaching sports, time with family, and exercising.
Chris Stearns, MD
Internal Medicine
Dr. Christopher Stearns is a board certified internist who has been practicing medicine since 2010 when he graduated from the Internal Medicine residency program at UT Southwestern Program in Austin, TX. He currently works with Austin Geriatric Specialists seeing patients at Skilled Nursing Facilities and as a academic hospitalist at Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas. He has an ongoing interest in improving patient safety and chairs the safety committee for the Department of Internal Medicine. He is married with two children and enjoys traveling, cycling and spending time with family.
